 About Resilience

Resilience is an inclusive term that includes sustainability, justice, peace, health, and other visions of places we all want to live. Resilient communities are able to recover from climate disruptions and natural disasters to be stronger than they were before.

Community resilience grows in many ways and sizes, such as a community center or library providing shelter and supplies during emergencies, a church or school “going green,” neighbors sharing locally grown food, and so on. We call these different resilience places either hubs, sites or neighborhoods.

The program focuses on four intersectional themes:

  • Resilience overview and South Bay success stories

  • Emergency readiness and recovery

  • Community mutual support

  • Climate-friendly sustainable solutions
